Description of tasks to be undertaken by the trainee(s)

COWI Belgium is the Brussels office of COWI Group which is an international consulting group working worldwide within engineering, environmental science and economics. COWI Belgium specialises in working with EU institutions including evaluations and impact assessments of EU policies and programmes as well as providing Technical Assistance in sectors such as rural energy, transport, regional development and environment. These services are delivered through existing framework contracts (FWC) or following calls for prequalification and/or tender.
COWI Belgium is offering one trainee position to work at its headquarters in Brussels. We are looking for motivated candidates (m/f) that will assist our international Framework Contract Management team.

The trainee will be assisting the Framework Contract Project Management Team with responding to the requests from different European Union Delegations. Essential tasks and training include:
• Research and organisational support to the team;
• Distribution of information to and contract with consortium partners;
• Search and selection of potential experts;
• Screening of new funding and partnership opportunities;
• Preparation and selection of technical and financial offers: analyse tender specifications, identify potential experts, negotiate fees, evaluate CVs, edit CVs and drafting financial offers, assembling technical offers;
• Project management: Day-to-day management of Framework contracts and assignments : Plan logistics, meetings, looking for local partners and book transport and hotels;
Throughout the training period, the intern will gain important insight into the EC Framework mechanism, its rules and procedures, and gain a valuable experience in project management.

 

Profile of Trainee

Qualification: Educational Qualifications/Vocational Training

The profile of the ideal candidate is:
• University Degree BA or Master level;
• Excellent English and French communication skills; Spanish and/ or Portuguese are an asset;
• Excellent drafting skills;
• Computer literacy, in particular good working knowledge of Word and Excel;
• Knowledge and interest in EU institutions and procedures; *

Personal and Social Skills

Well organised and systematic,
• Flexible and can handle multiple tasks independently,
• Resilient to stress and not afraid to comply with strict deadlines;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong emphasis on team spirit; and
• Motivated and an active team player.

Language Skills

Excellent English and French communication skills; Spanish and/ or Portuguese are an asset;

Information Technology (IT) Skills

Computer literacy, in particular good working knowledge of Word and Excel;
