PROGRAMMES AND ADVOCACY ASSISTANT

Description of tasks to be undertaken by the trainee(s)

1) Support the work of AER Programmes coordinator for Eurodyssey, the Summer Academy and the Youth Regional Network (YRN):

-Supervise and update the statutory quality standards of the AER programmes.
-Contribute to build-up AER programmes’ membership (updating contact lists, retaining and activating members, attracting new members)
-Contribute to the planning and management of programmes’ events (e.g. Eurodyssey Forum, YRN meetings and the 2019 Summer Academy)
-Contribute to developing a communication strategy to make the AER programmes more visible.
-Collect and curate data to draft statistics reports for Eurodyssey.
-Assist in finding synergies between the Eurodyssey programme and the AER Committees.
-Assist in the preparation of the Steering Committee meetings and other programme meetings.
-Write articles for the AER website, draft reports, take minutes and prepare any pertinent -working document for meetings.
-Carry out research activities on topics related to the programmes (e.g. youth mobility and employability, the Future of Europe, youth turnout in democratic processes, etc)
-Answer requests, queries and questions from programme members and beneficiaries
-Follow-up on the decisions and actions coming out from the Eurodyssey Forum and its Steering Committee.

2) Contribute to AER institutional relations and advocacy work:

-Work closely with the Institutional Relations Coordinator in developing and implementing advocacy strategies and activities on policies related to regional development.
-Monitor institutional activities and policy developments relevant to AER members.
-Support in producing advocacy materials, including policy briefings, reports, presentations and statements.
-Support the development and organisation of meetings, conferences and other events.

 

Profile of Trainee

Qualification: Educational Qualifications/Vocational Training

We are looking for an intern with some knowledge of international and European institutions and decision-making or any previous experience in a European network, interregional cooperation projects or cross-border cooperation. An interest in and understanding of the challenges for youth employment and mobility is important as well as any other socio-economic issues at stake for young people.

Personal and Social Skills

We are looking for someone creative, curious, independent and pro-active, self-motivated, full of energy, with a problem-solving attitude and eager to work in an international and multi-cultural environment.

Language Skills

Excellent command of English, both oral and written, is required and we consider a relevant asset the knowledge of French or other European languages.

Information Technology (IT) Skills

Highly computer literate
Mac
MS Office
WordPress is desirable
